The Creative Team theme for August is “Old Project/New Twist”. Designers are drawing inspiration from past projects and reimagining them in a new way! There has been quite a variety so far and we’re excited to see what’s up for this week…
Elizabeth Robinson revamped a Beach House journal she’d previously made and wasn’t happy with. It turned out wonderfully! Check her Instagram to see some flip throughs of the new and improved journal!
Tonya Trantham is sharing a colorful Garden & Seed journal made using the Handbound Journal Die. It is pretty and practical – she has spots to save seed packets and tuck receipts and notes away. You can find details and her tutorial here.
FLASHBACK PROJECTS!
Fall is on the way! Lisa Hoel has a cute decor piece to share made using Eileen’s Stacking Drawer Die. You can see all the details here.
Jenny Marples is sharing a vintage style travel trunk she created with the Treasure Box and Stacking Drawer Dies. Amazing!! See how she did it in this post.
News from Eileen Hull…
Hi friends – I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was spent cleaning and re-organizing with little breaks of crafting in between, while my husband was off on a canoe trip up in Maine. What a disaster! But things are getting put away, sorted and it should be somewhat back to normal by the time he gets home tonight 🙂
In today’s video, I’m cutting up something a little different — and I think you’re going to love the results!
Have you ever noticed the gorgeous artwork on vintage Reader’s Digest Condensed Books? I have one with a really pretty cover that I’ve been saving, just waiting for the right project. Well… today was the day! I figured out how to transform the book into a desk caddy using the Sizzix Handbound Journal and Stacking Drawers dies, and I’ll take you along as I share the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Reader’s Digest book. Head to your local thrift store and look for an old book with a pretty cover, an interesting embossed design, a great color—or even a title that has special meaning to you. The more unique, the better! So grab an old book and let’s give it a whole new life. I hope you’ll love this project as much as I do!
Last week we created a Commonplace Book on the live. This is a book to hold all of your current thoughts – art, sketching, quotes you want to remember, shopping lists, books to read, movies to watch. You can tear out articles from magazines and glue them in or doodle directly in the book. In other words – it’s a free for all – and I LOVE it! This is my kind of journaling. You can see what my book looks like HERE. I used the Journal die to make mine but use whatever you have, or even a pre-made book (but that’s no fun! :-))
