“Alphabet Soup” Inspiration with Eileen Hull’s New Sizzix Dies

Our theme this month is “Alphabet Soup”! We’re still focusing on Eileen’s new Sizzix release but with a special emphasis on the Nora Alphabet and Numbers Die Sets. Let’s see what projects the Team has to share with us this week!

Jennie Atkinson has fab shabby chic journal pages to share with us this week! She used the Nora Alphabet Die Set to cut letters and make a stacked title for the page. So cool! Take a closer look in the video below.

Lisa Hoel made a colorful mixed media birthday card for her nephew using the Nora Alphabet & Numbers sets. It’s an alpha mosaic! You can find details here.

EXTRA, EXTRA! Check out this technique short video from Jenny Marples! She’s using the new Watercolour Bouquet Embossing Folder and paint to make metallic floral panels. Cool!

Sarah Lizzie created this beautiful “Welcome Home” sign to hang up for a decor piece. It looks so inviting! She used the Nora Alphabet and Garden Gate Album Die. Find all the details here.

News from Eileen…

Hi everyone! Sorry – I have been off the grid for a few days. This past week was a little rough at our house as my husband had major surgery and it was scary to see all he had to go through. Thankfully, he has been doing much better the past couple of days. On June 8, it will be me off to the hospital for a hysterectomy 🙁 So… I will not be going live for the next couple of weeks.

But this week I have a fun project for you! I’m using the new Ephemera Pocket & Tags die to make an adorable little pocket book. 🙂 This is especially great if you are using scraps or 6″ x 6″ paper pads. I hope you can join me!

Thanks to Leslie Miller and Avril Tsui, our recent Guest Designers, for sharing their amazing work! Last Tuesday, we chatted with Avril and saw some of her gorgeous projects, heard about her recent cruise and loss of her beloved pup Rexy. You can watch the replay here.

I have somewhat recovered from my road trip out to Chicago for the h + h Americas trade show, a visit with Madeline Arendt, class at One Paper Place, visit with my friend Betsy Burnett, some KOA camping and the NAMTA Creativation trade show! My little trailer Daisy did herself proud and had lots of visitors. I could not have done any of the setup without the help of my friends, especially roommates Susie Bentz and Rebekah Meier, and fellow designers Ann Butler, Julie McGuffee, Kassy Lawrence, Sarah Clark and Elly Mae Habetts. Thanks to all!

The Creative Team was also a huge support as my brand new Sizzix collection launched while I was traveling. It was the Team’s inspiring designs that showcased what could be done with these dies so many thanks to my amazingly talented team, as always! The Scoreboards Garden Gate Album Die is a classic that is being re-released! Lisa Hoel made this little album with blank pages inside and a removable signature. More details for all her projects are here.

She also used the the Ephemera Pocket & Tags Die Set, to create a little gift package to house a pair of earrings. (Embellished using the Stitched Hearts and Page Edges Die Sets.)

Sue Eldred used the Garden Gate Album Die to create this sweet photo stand. Beautiful! Find more info in her post.

She also made this beautiful painted card using the Nora Alphabet and Stitched Hearts Die Sets plus the Watercolour Bouquet Embossing Folder.

Eileen Hull’s Let’s Get Sewing April Wrap Up!

It’s time to wrap up our April theme of “Let’s Get Sewing!” The Creative Team has explored all sorts of creative ways to use Eileen’s dies with sewing and stitching. Let’s see what inspiration the Team has for us this week:

Madeline Arendt used Eileen’s Notebook Die to make a credit card holder that is easy to tuck into a pocket or your purse. So clever! She used fabric, paper and fusible interfacing in its construction. More details and tutorial here!

Sue Eldred shows you how to make your own pocket sewing kit using the Needle Book Die and felt. This would make a great little Mother’s Day present! Find the instructions here.

Today it’s time for One Die Three Ways! I am excited to be creating with Margaret and Teresita! We will each be creating with the Waterfall & Tags die set, which is a must have if you are a journaler. I love to craft with friends because it’s fun to see how other crafters, craft! Eileen Hull on the road!

This time next week, I will be on the road to Chicago to go to the H + H Americas show, a trade show for the fiber/stitching/sewing industry. I’ll also be meeting up with creative friends to put our heads together and see how we might fit in here. If the internet is cooperating, I will do a video so you can see what it’s all about!

On Saturday, May 9, I am headed to One Paper Place in Frankfort, IL to teach this Watercolor Garden Gate Album (die coming soon!) You will also learn lots of techniques, have fun and get a tour of Daisy! If you live nearby, tell your family you want this for a Mother’s Day gift 🙂 REGISTER HERE

DAISY Update!

It took a while to shake that flu we had last week but we managed to break free and dive back into the renovating of Daisy. Hayward got the benches done and our friend and neighbor, Joe, made a beautiful scalloped shelf for over my desk and it is perfect! She is looking really good – tonight I finished painting and am ready to move on to decorating.

I found an unopened 3″ memory foam pad in the barn and after a day of expanding, it looks nice and fluffy. I am hoping I can use it for cushions on the benches – stay tuned…

The Creative Team might be exploring textiles, paper, mixed media, slow stitching, machine stitching, faux stitching… there are so many ways to create within this theme using Eileen’s dies. Let’s see what inspiration the Team has for us this week:

Lisa Hoel sewed these cute pillows for Eileen to use as decor in Daisy the trailer. The woven heart and tongues on the larger pillow were made using her Tunnel Arches Die Set. More details here!

Jenny Marples created these beautiful color wheel journal pages using the Swatch Card Stamp Set, Windowsill Vase & Flowers Die Set and Home Sweet Home Die Set. Catch her reel on Instagram to see more!

Daisy the Trailer update!

My husband is working every spare minute to get this trailer up and ready for the road. Last week the paneling went up and now he is working on building the benches! It’s so exciting to watch Daisy take shape! I have so many decorating ideas but not enough time to do them all.
