Happy New Year everyone! Just wanted to share the instructions for the Guest Towel Cupcakes that I demo’d on Cool2Craft yesterday. This was a quick and easy five minute project idea that I got from my super creative friend, Jonathan Fong.
You will need:
Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine
Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die – Cupcake Holder, Ruffle by Eileen Hull
6″ x 13″ piece of matboard
double sided tape
washcloth
Instructions:
- Die cut matboard cupcake. Decorate if desired. Fold cupcake on score lines and adhere ends with strong adhesive. Save the remaining die pieces for another project.
- Lay a washcloth down in front of you with a point facing you. Fold into a triangle. Starting with the wide side, start folding over about every inch or so toward the small end.
- Turn the strip toward you and roll it up. Secure with a rubber band. Push up the middle of the cupcake into a dome shape.
- Place washcloth into cupcake holder. You are done!
NOTE: You can also cut the cupcakes from paper. Wouldn’t these be cute cut from patterned papers that match the colors of the event or room where they will be displayed?
View previous post here to see cupcakes and upcycled cupcake stand. Why not make a batch? Use as favors for wedding or baby showers, for a special gathering celebrated in your home or just for fun for you and your family! This cupcake die is so versatile- many uses for it make this a great investment.

Totally adorable!

Just darling, Eileen! But much too pretty to use and destroy the display. If I were one of your guests, I’d likely wave my hands around in the air. lol.

I’m going to share this video ‘how to’ with Tarajean. She might be able to use this fab idea at some point when she’s doing the ‘party planning’ thing….she’s really good at it and your ideas are inspiring! And I just happen to know someone who has the cupcake die 🙂

Super cute! Thanks for participating in the FaveCrafts Blog Hop! We’re doing a special blog hop newsletter mailing as well 🙂 We’ll see you back in February!

Could you adapt the cupcake holder to make it moisture proof in order to offer a hot hand towel at the end of a messy meal?
Eileen Hull says
Beccy- that’s an interesting idea! I did make some from Ikea plastic placemats! They would work for holding wet hand towels after a meal if ribs or lobster. Thanks for the great suggestion 🙂

Those are so cute! I think they would make a great favor for a baby or bridal shower. I can hardly wait to try them.

Hi Eileen, I absolutely love this guest towel cupcake!! I was wondering where you got the purple matboard? I have been looking around online and have only found black, cream, or white. I am making these for a friends wedding shower and really need to find a dark purple matboard. Please let me know where I can find this. Please email me at Cathy719@att.net
Thanks, Cathy
