I had the nicest email a couple of weeks ago!
Hi, Eileen: My name is Guadalupe Martinez. I have quite a few of the scoreboard dies which I love. I guess I share your love of 3-D. Anyway, I just purchased the vintage oven die. I am over the moon with this die. I have created 3 ovens with it already … but I would love to show you what else (other than the stove) I have just done using that die.
I have shown my samples at work and at my local scrapbook supply store (where I bought my die). In fact, it was Debbie, the owner, who asked me(!) to help her put the oven together because she knew I was an “expert” at boxes and things. Little did she know that the craft beast had been unleashed! Anyway, I don’t have a blog to direct you so you can see my creations, but I do have a facebook page and I have an I-phone. I am so excited to share with you the creator! I had so many ides swirling around that I had to put them on post-it notes so that I would not forget them. Please bear in mind that I am not tech savvy LOL! I have had many dies in the past, but never one that I dream about! Hope to hear from you soon to share my ideas with you.
I am so happy to share photos of the projects that Lupe created!
She created five adorable designs in different themes using just ONE DIE- the Sizzix 3D Oven!
Here’s a bright and happy oven with tiny little donuts and pastries! Can you believe how small they are? I would love to know what they are made of!
Oh my gosh- look at this little crocheted dish towel along with oven mitts and potholders. I love the vintage-y vibe with pink polka dots… and it looks like Lupe used screws for the oven knobs- so clever!
This one looks like a cool old dresser or cabinet complete with vintage papers. She turned the drawer around so that the front was solid and distressed the cabinet door edges to look old, then added a cute drawer pull!
Now we’re cooking! I like the feet that she put on this oven, the little clock in the center and cool burners (are they round paper clips?) plus another miniature pot holder hanging on the side. Great handle on here too!
A changing table! Lupe is so creative! This would be such an adorable favor for a baby shower. Or what about a Tooth Fairy box? SO cute…
Here is Lupe’s latest project that is still in progress…
“…an oven with a Mexican flair to honor my heritage. From paper clay, I made tortillas, tacos, and frijoles (beans) in a skillet, and a molcajete (Spanish for the little stone mortar and pestle used to make salsa before there were blenders!) for this little treasure. I love it so much. My ice cream cart is still in the designing stage; still gathering my little goodies that I want to use. You are going to love it, if it comes anywhere near the picture in my head. I so love to share my passion with other crafters. My daughter enjoys crafting when she gets the time, but with 5 kids and a full time job, she doesn’t get to play much. When she or the kids need something for a project, they come to grandma’s “store.” Someday, maybe, I will finally create my own blog—that is on my bucket list.”
Can you believe ALL of these projects were made using the new Sizzix 3D Oven die? Click here to order one now- they are finally back in stock!
I want to thank Lupe for sharing her amazing projects with us all. It’s so nice that she is passing the love o crafting along to her grandkids!
And I don’t think she is the only one who drams about what she wants to make next. Does anyone else out there do that? Leave a comment and let us know what inspires you… How do you come up with ideas for your next project?

Oh wow, Lupe has done a wonderful job with the oven die, I really love the ‘old dresser’ one, it is fabulous! Anne xx

I know Anne- it’s hard to pick a favorite! Lupe’s projects are all so clever and I love how she thinks outside the box to get the most uses from her die. All of the little accessories she made from clay blow my mind too!

Thanks for the fan feature, Eileen! It is a thrill to see my work on your blog. Here are a few details on my ovens: the dials were brads that resemble screws. The burners/paper clips were found at HL in the paper craft section. The food was all handcrafted from paper clay. One tip I have is to use the thickest chipboard recommended for these ovens and to hot glue them together. Did I say I LOVE this die?!
eileen says
Lupe thanks for getting us the details! I like to use matboard for these projects and chipboard works great too- anything up to 1/16″. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful work!

Cheryl- I think you would have fun with it 🙂 How have you been? I didn’t see you at CHA!
Kimberly Wildeman says
I am so in love this this die….but I am wondering where everyone comes up with the adorable oven door handle?
eileen says
Kimberly- I found some at Hobby Lobby. I guess you have to be on the lookout. And don’t be afraid to improvise with office supplies or household objects!

I had a couple of handles in my stash (had them for years). I purchased some more online and found one I liked at HL. One idea going thru my head which I haven’t tried is using a long pronged brad, threading the closed prongs thru a small pony bead (any bead with a large enough hole would work I think), poking it thru a hole in the top middle of the drawer, then open the prongs as usual. This would serve as a pull rather than a handle.
eileen says
Great idea Lupe!

Lupe is a true artist! I love what she did with the 3D Oven Sizzix die , which you designed Eileen. She is a creative genius using the dies to craft these beautiful pieces. I especially love the Mexican stove top with all of the delicious food which is represented.

I love all of them Lisa. What I really love is Lupe’s enthusiasm and love for crafting which she passes down to her family. Makes me happy…
