At CHA, I attended an exciting networking event hosted by Prime Publishing. It was open to craft and DIY bloggers with kind of a speed dating format. Craft manufacturer sponsors were available to chat with, hear about their newest products and see how you might partner with them for work opportunities. When I got back from CHA, I received a giant box of products from the sponsors of the event. I was so happy that Sizzix, one of the sponsors of the event, included my Kitchen Labels set! And I got one! 🙂 All of the attendees of the event received similar products. So now Prime Publishing is putting on the Best Blogger of 2015- a contest to see who was the most creative in using the products they received. in their box!
I created a Quick & Easy Planner using my Sizzix Mini-Album die. I am going to use this to plan projects for the blog, sketch out new dies, make class supply lists and keep track of deadlines. It’s easy to add more pages or switch the order if necessary. There’s no reason why you can’t have a little fun making things pretty and get some work done at the same time, right?
I chose these colors because I was at a baby shower this weekend and fell in love with the yellow, gray and white combination. Isn’t this gorgeous? I have such talented friends, Paula Ann and Sandy- wow!
OK, stop drooling! Let’s get back to the project.
Here are the supplies I used… and there are links to the products I used below in case you need to make one for yourself!
- Die cut a Mini- Album from mat board and eight signatures made with white sheets from the Little B Paper Pack
- Paint the front and back cover of the album with Plaid Folk Art Home Decor Chalk paint. I used Arrowhead, a soft gray.
- Emboss each edge of the album covers using the Textured Impressions Folder by Stephanie Barnard. When the paint is dry, take a piece of sandpaper and rub the embossed areas of the book cover until the design stands out. I embossed some of the book pages too for a little dimension.
- To create each signature, fold a 6” x 12” sheet of Little B heavy white paper in half. Place fold just shy of the last score line on the die and run through Big Shot. This yields one book signature. You can cut two-three folded papers at a time.
- Use twine to bind pages. Cut eight lengths of 14” of white twine. Tie each page into book by placing page fold inside book binding and tie on the outside in a double knot.
- TIP: An even quicker method is to bind with rubber bands- place one #16 rubber band in the fold of each page and slide over the binding of the book! If you want to change the order or add in additional pages, it is easy to do.
- Die cut labels, arrows and accents to use in the book. Decorate the cover and store extra embellishments on the pages.
- Write desired text on the front cover with chalk or a chalk marker. If you want to re-use the book for another project, simply wipe lettering off with a wet paper towel.
- Add ribbon and Little B embellishments.

I love yellow and grey too, a great colour combo and the baby shower looked so pretty! I love this planner, what a great idea and thank you for the tutorial and inspiration X

Thanks Carole- yes I loved the baby shower. They chose not to find out the sex of baby (just like it was in the old days!) so these colors were neutral and so serene. It make me want to delve into that palette!
