I am so excited today to welcome JoAnn Nehme to our blog! I first noticed JoAnn’s work on Instagram (you can follow her at Sage2352). What JoAnn does with flowers blows my mind! She makes beautiful wreaths, arrangements, banners, you name it- she is very talented at creating in 3D. JoAnn’s name popped up again when she entered (and won!) our Art With Heart Challenge- today she is sharing a project that she made using the Cookie Box die that she won. She made something with it that would never in a million years have crossed my mind. I love seeing what people make with my dies and to go from this…
To this… makes me SO happy
JoAnn has some serious talent, don’t you think? I love paging through her blog, Pair of Petals– there is always something new and exciting to check out! JoAnn and her daughter Michelle craft and do shows together – one of these days I might just surprise them. They live about 12 miles from my sister Kathy in NY!
Here’s what JoAnn would like to share with you today…
HI, My name is JoAnn Nehme. I live here in the beauty of Hudson Valley, in upstate New York (Kingston). I have two beautiful daughters, Nicole and Michelle. They are both married to great guys, who I am happy to call my son-in-laws. I have a loving husband who supports my crafting addiction (haha!), and two fabulous miniature schnauzers that have stolen my heart. I love my family. Besides crafting, I also enjoy cooking and traveling.
I have always enjoyed making and creating crafts since I was young. I have explored many techniques throughout the years, including crochet, jewelry making, sewing, and much more! I have always made these projects with the intention to give them to friends and family, or to decorate my home. I now love making banners, wreaths, and other home décor. I have found that Eileen Hull’s die cuts are truly perfect for most of my projects. They are my “go to” dies for when I want to make something for a special event or holiday. They are so versatile. Eileen’s dies can be used for many projects. I enjoy looking at Pinterest, and gaining inspiration from creations that I see there. I then think about the die cuts I have on hand, and see if I can come up with my own project.
I enjoy crafting almost every day. I must say I especially love Eileen’s flower die cuts. They can be used across a multitude of projects. You can also cut many different fabrics with them. They are just fantastic! I’m always thinking about new ways I can use Eileen’s dies to make different flowers too!
I am so honored that Eileen asked me to be on her blog. Her work is truly inspiring to me. I hope that you enjoy my project. If you do, please check out our blog, http://Pairofpetals.com.
The project that I am featuring for you today is one of my absolute favorites. This little birdhouse is great for home decoration, or as an ornament for the tree. This is also the perfect gift for the teachers in your life as the end of the school year approaches!
I won the Art with Heart Challenge and won this Cookie Box die cut.
Here’s how this project was made:
Eileen Hull’s die cuts, cookie box, Flower layers with heart, and leaves die cut.
Scrapbooking paper I used graphic 45 scrapbooking paper
Glue stick
Craft scissor
3/8 in whole punch
Small piece of Spanish moss
Mini bird from the craft store
Tim Holtz Distress ink and paints
Clothespin or binder clip for holding
You can also use recycled cereal boxes for this project
Step 1: Cut you materials, this is where you can get creative. I like to use recycled cereal boxes for this part.
Step 2: Punch your circles. These will become a place for your little bird to rest.
Step 3: Prepare the base and roof of your little bird house.
Step 4: Assemble the pieces, to create a perfect little house for your bird.
This birdhouse was made using a recycled cereal box.
