Today I would like to share this adorable and useful Tween Memo Center by Laura Bray, one of my talented designer friends.
Not only does Laura have great design skills- she also has the business side of crafting down. I have been fortunate enough to have taken some ecourses from her and learned a lot. She explains things so they are easy to understand and puts out a great newsletter filled with tips and information- the link to sign up is below.
I was able to stop in and meet Laura’s husband and daughter a few years ago on Paper Trail 3 which was fun and so welcoming of them. Laura has such a cool unique style and I always love to see what she is up to. Take a look at this cool project she has designed for you!
Tween Memo Center
Hi! I’m Laura Bray. I live in Southern California with my physicist husband, my ten year old daughter, and a hamster named “Hamony Snicket”. I work as a professional craft designer and am currently working on releasing my first set of rubber stamps and designing a fabric collection. I’ve been a fan of Eileen’s dies since she started designing for Sizzix and I was so excited when she asked me to do a project for her.
As I mentioned, I have a ten year old daughter, and it’s really important to me to teach her how to be independent and organized, so I am always looking for crafty ways to sneak a lesson in organization into her life. This time, I created a memo center for her room. It hangs just inside her door so, before she goes off to school, she can check for reminders so she doesn’t forget things like her violin on Tuesdays! The tea cup pen holder, a cute memo holder, and a small corkboard ensure that she has everything she needs to write reminders to herself. I confess I have snuck in her room to write reminders for her too!
Here’s how I created my Tween Memo Center.
Supplies:
- Sizzix Scoreboard XL Die-Tea Cup 3D
- Sizzix Scoreboard XL Die-Memo Holder.
- Mat board in cream and black
- Walnut Hollow Innkeeper Pine Plaque
- Pink acrylic craft paint
- Colorbox Crafters Ink in Sweet Pea
- Stamp
- Corkboard
- Adtech Precision Pro Glue Gun and scented glue sticks
- Buttons
- Washi tape
Instructions:
- Paint the wood plaque with craft paint.
- Once the paint is dry, stamp a design over the paint using Colorbox Crafter’s Ink. I used a flower stamp I created by cutting a design out of craft foam sheets. You can see how I did it here.
- Cut out the die shapes from the mat board and assemble. Embellish with buttons and washi tape.
- Hot glue a square of corkboard onto the middle of the plaque, then hot glue the tea cup and the memo holder to either side.
Of course, this project isn’t just for tweens. I’m thinking I might make one for myself too. Who doesn’t need a beautiful reminder every now and then?
I would love it if you would come and visit me on my blog or sign-up for my newsletter. I try to share lots of tutorials, recipes, and essays on finding balance as a professional creative, a wife, and a mother.
Thanks Eileen for always inspiring me with your wonderful products!
