Lucky us! Today on the blog- Jen Goode‘s Paper Flower Coloring Page! The first thing I noticed when I met Jen at the Craft & Hobby Association Show was her friendly smile and willingness to jump in and help. I know you will love her too…
We’re making fun paper crafts with cut flowers and coloring pages today. Hi! I’m Jen Goode. I’m an illustrator, project designer and a self proclaimed craft adventurer. I love all things creative and I especially love sharing how-to info with friends. So today, I’m really excited to be sharing a crafty tutorial with you. Thank you Eileen for the opportunity to share today!
Today I am sharing how to make custom gift tags and cards using coloring pages and Eileen’s pretty flower die. I’ve created a printable flower coloring page you can use to make your own project too.
Materials – affiliate links
- Eileen’s Sizzix Bigz Die – Flower Layers with Heart Petals
- Sizzix 660425 Big Shot Cutting/Embossing Machine
- Printable Flower coloring page craft kit by Jen Goode
- Adhesive
- Scissors
- Embellishments (my secret supply is glitter nail polish!)
Note: I’m using one of the older models of the Sizzix cutting machines, the Big Shot. The new machines work perfectly and are really beautifully designs. I love my old red!
Instructions
- Color your coloring page however you’d like. If you’re using my printable page, print it on a nice thick cardstock and then color as desired. I used watercolor paints in my example.
- Cut pieces of colored paper to fit the flower sizes you would like. You can simply place an entire piece of paper to cut all three flowers at once if you’d like. You can also layer multiple pieces of paper to make the process go quicker. I perfer to hand pick each pattern for each flower.
- Create your Sizzix “sandwich” with the flower die, a clear plate on the bottom and a clear plate on the top with the die in the middle and the paper on top of the die.
- Cut as many flowers as you’d like to use for your card or tag.
To make the tag:
Cut a rectangle, then create a 2 layer flower and adhear it all together. Cut out a little heart, add some sparkle and glue in the center of the flower. I added a little sparkle by using glitter nailpolish (we’re fancy around here!.)
To make the card:
Cut out the flower art on the printable.
Create a 2 layer flower with a center heart. Add on top of one of the flower illustrations on the printable. Add some sparkle.
Tip: To create a little extra dimension, gently bend the flower petals on the smaller flower before gluing in place.
You can add the card art to the front of a traditional folding card, or use it more like a postcard. You can also turn this flower card into a mini decor piece. Glue it to a background paper and frame!
Curious about coloring? For this project I used watercolor paints to add color to my coloring page. I also love to use watercolor pencils to get that watercolor look without painting. There are so many fun things you can do with coloring pages. Eileen’s dies are a perfect tool for creating beautiful projects with your finished coloring art.

I love this flower die Eileen has designed because it is so versatile. You can use the flowers individually or layer them in 2 or 3 layers. Cut out any colors and patterns you’d like. Create a whole garden or feature a single bloom, it’s up to you!
Thank you so much to Eileen for having me today. I hope you enjoy this project, I’d love to hear about your own creative masterpiece! Give me a shout and tell me about it. A little about me
I’m Jen Goode, yep that’s pronounced goodie. I live in Colorado, I’m a mom of 3 and I’ve been running my own design business for over 15 years. I’ve created things my whole life. I starting my first business in 5th grade making hand painted invitations. In college I took typography, fell in love with word art and design and worked for the student lead campus design studio. Fast forward to 2010ish… I attended my first Craft and Hobby Association trade show, where I met Eileen and discovered the world of project design.
My business has evolved from graphic design for print and web based media to project design and product development. Today I work with a variety of companies creating projects ideas and art designs YOU can use for your own creative fun.
